THE Dimbulah Lions Club will be hosting a special cabaret style event reminiscent of the old new years eve cabarets of the past to commemorate the clubs 60th anniversary inviting past and present Lions and community members to celebrate.
The cabaret will be held on Saturday, September 4 from 6.30pm until midnight at the Dimbulah Memorial Hall.
Tickets are $50 per person with canape’ style food to enjoy, a $300 lucky door prize up for grabs and a cash bar available to keep the floor alive well into night.
Dimbulah Lions president Brendon Goldsworthy said that despite cancelling the 2021 Dimbulah Lions Festival there was still a need to celebrate the clubs 60th milestone.
“Retrospectively looking back we might have been okay to go ahead with the festival as restrictions did ease considerably by the time May came around,” he said.
“These events take months of planning and at the time the risk was too great, the thought of having to turn around and cancel the event at the last minute was unfavourable to say the least.
“We felt as a club we needed to put on a special event to celebrate 60 years of Lions in Dimbulah for people to come together and reminisce on the past achievements of our great club.”
The cabaret style event was decided as a ‘tip of the cap’ to the days of the old Dimbulah Lions Club with their regular and well attended cabaret events.
“We are encouraging people to come and have a great night out in Dimbulah, reconnect with old friends and enjoy some topnotch music with Cairns band the “Tall Poppies,” Mr Goldsworthy said.
“I am very excited to see them in action again they are extremely entertaining and I have no doubt they will have people on their feet dancing the night away.”
COVID safe rules apply with attendees needing to scan in on arrival, secure your tickets for their event from Dimbulah Health and Beauty or The Express Newspaper in Mareeba.
