Malanda bullride set to return

THIS year's Malanda Bullride is back, with their “breaking the barrier” spectacular, taking on the arena for the first time in three years on Saturday October 9 at the Malanda Showgrounds.
The popular ride has seen cowboys and cowgirls from across the region since 2012, with this year promising to be bigger and better than ever.
Malanda Bull Ride Coordinator and Committee Treasurer Kate Stokes said that it is an exciting event coming back after a three year hiatus.
“We are hosting our seventh annual event for the first in three years due to a gap year and the sudden COVID outbreak,” she said
“This year it promises to be better than ever with up to six hours of entertainment.
“From 3pm we will start with the junior calf ride, mini bulls and then go to the popular open ride and there will be a big screen to watch it all on.”
Ms Stokes said that her and the committee are ready to rumble with just a little bit of nerves to follow.
“I think we are pretty excited, just a little bit nervous after our long hiatus,” she said.
“Regardless of that I genuinely think this year will be the biggest and best we have had yet.”
The event kicks off at 3pm with gates opening to the public at 2pm, with the six exciting hours of calf, bullock and novice bull rides.
