Mareeba Cricket celebrates players
THE Mareeba Cricket Club held their end of season presentation last Saturday, March 27 with juniors, seniors and ladies attending to be awarded trophies and compete in some interclub competitions.
THE Mareeba Cricket Club held their end of season presentation last Saturday, March 27 with juniors, seniors and ladies attending to be awarded trophies and compete in some interclub competitions.
The day started with the inaugural Mareeba seconds vs thirds championships played on Borzi park before the presentations took place, this was followed by the ladies and junior games.
Ryan Jaszczyszyn was the outstanding junior on the night taking away the junior champion award, rep player of the year award among others with his performances throughout the season.
Jett Prien was the man of the night taking home a wheelbarrow full of awards for his exploits in senior cricket.
Jett not only took home two awards for two of his batting performances but also the most runs in Second Grade award, second grade players player, the Gordon Pashen Memorial Shield and the John Henry Memorial shield, among others.
Cian Cochran was awarded the most wickets in Second Grade award which was well deserved as Cian spent some time at the top of the CFN ladder for most wickets in Second Grade.
Outstanding supporters and volunteers Jeff and Gail Roseblade were awarded the Frosty Firth Memorial Shield, they are a mainstay at Second Grade games and can always be counted on to lend a hand when needed.
Brothers Bradley and Steven Hogan both took away awards for Third Grade with Bradley being awarded the most wickets in third grade award and Steven taking away the players player award.
The night ended with cheers and congratulations as players and supporters regaled stories of seasons past and hopes for seasons to come.
