ENTRY roads into Mareeba have been recently marked with a fresh red section of paint signaling the installation of new Township Entry Treatment (TET) from the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR).

These new TET areas are being installed as part of a wider $17.27 million program of road safety upgrades across Queensland.

TET acts as a speed management treatment which involves the installation of signage and pavement making at the entry points of a town, informing and signaling drivers to slow down.

In Mareeba’s case these new TET areas have been installed where there is a speed change from the outskirts of Mareeba which is typically 80km/h to 60km/h.

The works have commenced and is expected to be completed mid 2021 weather permitting
