Pool party for splash park opening

THE wait is finally over and locals are being invited along to celebrate and enjoy the grand opening of the Mareeba Splash Park this Saturday from 11am.

THE wait is finally over and locals are being invited along to celebrate and enjoy the grand opening of the Mareeba Splash Park this Saturday from 11am.

To celebrate the opening at the Mareeba Aquatic Centre, locals can join in a pool party from 11am until 2pm, with free entry, a celebratory cake and face painting all on offer.

Resident swimming club, The Mareeba Wildcats, will also be offering a sausage sizzle for a gold coin donation.

The project was funded by the Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning to provide the Splash Park and upgrades to existing infrastructure at the Mareeba Aquatic Centre to the value of $1.5 million.

The remaining construction funding will be contributed by Mareeba Shire Council, who will also be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and operating costs.
