Trail ride hits the heights
THE country was ideal, and the riders and horses keen for the kilometres of track to tackle during the three-day Cordillera Trail Endurance Ride last month.
The annual event, organised by the Far North Queensland Endurance Riders Association, included challenging 20, 40, 60 and 80km rides, a 120k mini marathon, a 60km micro marathon and 3km rides for kids.
The tracks are hilly, traverse forests, cross some roads and can be a bit rocky, but careful vet checks and vaccination policies ensure fitness and safe passage with plenty of picturesque water spots for the horses along the way.
