Under 8s fun captivates kids

ST THOMAS’ students took a break from school work last Friday and enjoyed a day of fun with the annual Under 8s day held on the school oval.
Students were able to put down their pencils and interact with other kids outside of the classroom for a day filled with fun activities. Thanks to the help of outside organisations like PCYC, Mulungu, Mareeba Hospital and the Mareeba Library, activities included arts and crafts, face painting, jumping castle, petting zoo and more.
St Thomas’ Assistant Principal Leonie McCormack was thrilled to see the students bonding and interacting with each other.
“It’s a chance for the students to put down their pencils and celebrate being a child,” she said.
“It gets the kids involved and interacting with peers they might not often interact with.
“It’s a great way to break down barriers and build relationships.”
Next year’s Under 8s day will be held during September and is open to outside community members interested in bringing their kids for a day of friends and fun.
